The April meeting for the HVA PTSA will be Monday, April 23 at 6:30pm in the HVA Library. This is the last meeting of the school year. There will be no HVA PTSA meeting in the month of May. Everyone is welcome. Please come to hear about all the exciting things happening at HVA!

The Hardin Valley Academy PTSA Mission Statement:  The Hardin Valley Academy PTSA will work to support and speak on behalf of students, teachers, and school staff in the community and before governmental agencies and other organizations that make decisions affecting them; will work to assist parents in develpoing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; and will work to encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this community, state, and nation.

The PTSA 2012 donation campaign asks each family to consider donating $36 ($1 for each week of school). These funds are tax deductible and 100% of the funds stay within our school for academic purposes. You can send in your donation to the main office; please make checks payable to "HVA PTSA."  Or, visit the PTSA page on the HVA website and click on the DONATE button on the right-hand side to use PayPal to make your donation.
We appreciate your contribution and are excited about all of the possibilities here at HVA.

April 23: HVA PTSA General Meeting, HVA Library, 6:30 p.m. Parents and students welcome.

April 26: Spring Senior Portfolio Showcase night, 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the HVA atrium. Seniors from all four academies will present their internship, lab assistant, and research experiences in an informal, open house style setting. All students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members are cordially invited to attend.

April 28: Calling all high school students who would like to earn community service hours. Cedar Bluff Schools will host their annual "Spring Fling" (formerly known as "Mayfest") Festival on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and PTSA is recruiting volunteers to help staff the game booths. If you are interested in helping and can volunteer an hour or more of your time, please sign up for one or more time slot and we will place you in a booth that still needs to be staffed. Time slots are as follows: 9:45-11 a.m., 11 a.m.-noon, noon-1p.m., 1 p.m.-2 p.m., 2 p.m.-3 p.m.  Please contact Emily Medley at medleyem@gmail.com to get more information or to sign up (please email your full name, shifts you want to work, and a contact phone number).

May 3-6: 99th Annual Tennessee PTA Convention at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville.
 
May 11: Senior Awards Celebration at HVA w/ Senior Luncheon. Mandatory practice after the luncheon.

May 11: Baccalaureate practice - Bacclaureate Practice, 2:00 p.m., Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 9919 Kingston Pike

May 13: Baccalaureate, 4:00 pm. Seniors need to be at Cokesbury by 3:00 pm.

May 18: Mandatory graduation rehearsal, Thompson-Boling Arena, (time TBD)

May 19: GRADUATION at Thompson-Boling Arena, 4:30 p.m.

May 19: Graduation Celebration will be held at HVA, 10:00 p.m.- 5:00 a.m. Tickets on sale now in the HVA office.

Help NEEDED for Graduation Celebration!!!
Calling all parents- especially parents of underclassman (especially junior parents)!!! Our third annual Graduation Celebration event is coming up this year and we need volunteers to help out. Graduation Celebration is an all-night, drug and alcohol free, lock-in party for our graduating seniors that will be held on May 19thWe need many different types of volunteers to help on committees that have already been set up. We need help with a fundraising pancake breakfast, set up and take down on the day of the event, food help, decoration help, parent help during the event, donation of gift cards, bottles of water, soft drinks or some yummy snacks to enjoy that evening etc. You can be involved as little or as much as you would like to be. We would appreciate all the help we can get to throw the seniors a wonderful celebration for their graduation so please consider giving us a little of your time. If interested, contact Janet Brudecki at Brudecki@comcast.net

As you make vacation plans, consider making reservations through the Travel2Give website.  Your PTSA will receive a donation of 50% on any commissions made.  For example, if a family of 6 books a cruise valued at $10,000 and commissions are $2,000, your PTSA will receive a donation of $1,000.
