Mayor’s Community Roundtable on Monday, March 22, 6-7 PM, HVA Library Monthly PTSA business meeting, March 22, 7-8 PM, HVA Library These are both important meetings! There is most likely going to be a $19 million cut in the Knox County Schools budget this year with Middle and high schools losing teaching positions all over the county. The mayor needs to hear your opinions on this and what your ideas are on solutions. The PTSA meeting will focus on regular business as well as the Nominating Committee’s report and presentation of their proposed slate of 2010-2011 Executive Officers. Everyone (parents, students, teachers, community) is welcomed to attend both these important events. Please plan to be there! |

Calling All MenThe HVA FBI (Fellas Being Involved) needs your help. If you are a dad, grandpa, uncle, stepdad, HVA needs your presence on late start Wednesday mornings for only 1 hour, 8-9 AM. The HVA PTSA has implemented a new program to assist with the safety of our students. On late start Wednesdays, when the faculty are participating in academy and department meetings, the administration is in need of additional adults for crowd control and student supervision. Graduation Celebration Pancake Breakfast FundraiserOn March 20, PTSA will host a pancake breakfast at Aubrey’s, Cedar Bluff, to benefit Graduation Celebration. $5 tickets may be purchased from PTSA Board members or at the door.

Senior Graduation Party/We need your BusinessIn an effort to create the most fabulous graduation celebration party for our graduating seniors, the PTSA needs participation from many businesses. FBI : "Fellas Being Involved"The HVA PTSA will be launching a new initiative this year called the FBI (that's "Fellas Being Involved"). The initiative is intended to promote the importance of men, uncles, grandfathers, fathers, father-figures, being involved in the education of their children, with special emphasis on the students at HVA. Research shows that students do better when the men in their lives take an active interest in their education. Senior VideoA senior video will be sponsored by the HVA PTSA. It will consist of several special senior class events such as Spirit Week, Baccalaureate, Graduation event party, Prom, and Graduation. The cost is $40. This video will NOT take the place of the FLIGHT yearbook but will serve as a special memento for seniors to highlight special activities of the year. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the PTSA. An order form may be found at the bottom of the page under 'PTSA Files and Information'.

Please consider donating $36 to your HVA PTSA, that’s $1 per every week that your student is in school. Through the donation campaign, funds are raised so that your students will have a successful Graduation Event party, programs and supplies to enhance the educational process, upgrades to our building and grounds, scholarships for our graduating seniors and so much more! Donations may be made in the front office of the school or sent in by your student through advisory teachers. For more information please click on the 'Donation Campaign Letter' link below. It's not too late to join PTSA!PTA is our nation's largest volunteer child advocacy organization. We are not merely a fundraising group but rather an advocacy group passionate about bringing about better lives for our students. Memberships are $6 for individuals or $25 for a family membership.
